2021 I Hedendaagse Primitieven
Expo 22.04>09.05.2021
De Burg, de Tank + Brugotta, Bruges
Upcoming show “Hedendaagse Primitieven” in Bruges. An exhibition of photographs by Alex Vanhee who took 40 portraits of 40 artists living or working in Bruges, and Benedikte Van Eeghem who interviewed us for our stories. The contemporary artists are a range of writers, actors, painters, singers, dancers and musicians. The “Contemporary Primitives” is all about a wink to the Flemish Primitives from the 15th and 16th century, very known in Bruges, who worked with the same craftsmanship and “métier” as we work today. I’m honoured to be part of it with my picture, my story and one of my paintings “memories of strawberries and a kiss from the unicorn” from 2020.
An exclusive photobook realised by PK Projects with the support of Port Authority Zeebrugge accompanied the exhibition with portraits of 40 artists: Jean-Marie Aerts, Maud Bekaert, Jean Blaute, Thomas Blondelle, Pia Burrick, Fien Cools, Gilles Coulier, Stefaan De Croock, Sylvie De Meerleer, Jan De Cock, Kurt Defrancq, Karien Deroo, Franky De Smet-Van Damme, Elke Desutter, Robert Devriendt, Guido Dobbelaere, Nina Everaert, David Galle, Kamagurka, Delphine Lecompte, Sam Louwyck, Marechaussee, Bart Moeyaert, Lisa Naert, Brody Neuenschwander, Vincent Pierins, Joke Raes, Dijf Sanders, Sammy Slabbinck, Peter Slabbinck, Lara Taveirne, Mieke Teirlinck, Steven Van Havere, Jos Van Immerseel, Sarah Vandeursen, Bart Vantieghem, Anna Vercammen, Jan Verhaeghe, Peter Verhelst and Wietse.
